A former Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in San Carlos City was chosen as one of the six beneficiaries in Negros Occidental of the Sa Pinas, Ikaw ang Ma’am at Sir (SPIMS) Program of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Regional Welfare Office VI.

Ma. Jennifer Campos, 38 yrs old, a resident of St. Vincent Subdivision, Brgy. I received P20,000 from OWWA yesterday, Jan. 12, 2021 at the Limman’s Center Inn, Bacolod City.

Campos was a licensed teacher who worked in Hanoi, Vietnam who decided to return to the Philippines after 10 years of teaching there to pursue her career locally.

According to Erel Lim, Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in-charge, Campos applied for said program in 2019, three years after she returned to the country but the assistance was released only this year due to the pandemic.

Lim added that part of the privileges was the automatic installation of Campos as public school teacher particularly at Ermita Elementary School in Sipaway Island while the P20,000 given to her will be used to purchase computer set and other teaching materials that she will need.

The SPIMS program started on September 2014 to encourage the return of OFWs, specifically the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) passers, by providing them with option to work in the country as public school teachers.
