A fire that broke out in the public market of Barangay Cabacungan, La Castellana, Negros Occidental early Monday morning, destroying at least 22 stalls.
The fire that started around 1:15 a.m. and lasted almost 3 a.m. burned stalls including grocery and variety stores, eateries, a bakeshop, and a feeds supply store.
Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
Fifth District Representative Emilio Bernardino Yulo immediately provided cash assistance to the affected stall owners and pledged to help them recover from their losses.
La Castellana Mayor Rhummyla Nicor-Mangilimutan expressed gratitude to Yulo for the immediate aid and announced that the municipal government is also providing assistance to those affected by the fire.
