Fastcrafts operating the Bacolod-Iloilo route decided to temporarily halt its trips between Bacolod and Iloilo cities due to travel restrictions imposed by the 2 highly urbanized cities in relation to the rising cases of COVID-19 and the detection of the the Omicron variant in the region.
Weesam Express operator Frank Carbon said the requirement of both cities for passengers to present a negative swab test taken within 72 hours before their travel is an added toll to their passengers.
But Carbon said they support the move of the local government to curb the rising cases.
Oceanjet and Weesam suspended their travel since yesterday, January 10. This is after the City of Iloilo also issued an advisory requiring all travelers from Bacolod City to present a negative RT-PCR test upon their arrival in the city.
Oceanjet said trips are suspended until further notice.
As of this writing Fast Cat which operates a roll on, roll off vessel from Banago Port to Iloilo City has not issued yet any trip cancellation, but reminded their travel of the new guidelines issued by Iloilo City.
