The body of Pfc. Julian Redondo Oracion, a 26-year-old Scout Ranger who died in a clash with suspected rebels in Oriental Mindoro, was flown home to Negros Oriental on Monday, August 18.
His return was marked by a solemn ceremony and military honors at the Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport.
Oracion, a native of La Libertad, Negros Oriental, was one of three soldiers from the First Scout Ranger Regiment of the Philippine Army killed in action during an encounter with suspected New People’s Army rebels in Baco town on August 12.
A Philippine Air Force C-130 aircraft transported his remains. Upon arrival, the 11th Infantry Battalion, led by Lt. Col. Sol Zaulda, conducted a traditional military honors ceremony to honor the fallen soldier.
Oracion’s mother, Susana, and other family members accompanied the casket.
In an emotional interview, Susana, a single mother of 12, expressed her grief, stating, “It is painful and I did not expect this to happen to him.” She extended her gratitude to the government and various agencies for the support her family has received during this difficult time.
The remains were then transported to his hometown of La Libertad, where he will be laid to rest.
