A mother’s errand of love turned into an unimaginable nightmare in the pre-dawn hours today, May 20, in Purok Lison, Barangay 1, as flames consumed their home and killed her two young children.

The siblings, an 8-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy, had eagerly awaited their mother’s return with their request of a Jollibee meal.

According to Fire Officer 2 Rolin Paulan of the Bacolod City Fire Protection, the two young victims were found deceased within the remains of their burnt home.

In an interview, Punong Barangay Cesar Rallos said the fire broke out at approximately 1:00 AM after the area had experienced a power outage the previous night following a transformer explosion.

Rallos suspected that an unattended candle caused the fire that consumed the home of the victims that is made of light materials.

In an exclusive interview of K5 News FM, Jovina Nataylo, mother of the victims narrated that she had left their residence around to purchase fast food, a request from her children. She was almost at their residence when she heard about the fire.

She expressed her disbelief and sorrow over the unforeseen tragedy that befell her children.
