President Rodrigo Duterte has signed into law Republic Act 11749 which establishes the Land Transportation Office (LTO) regular office in the town of E.B. Magalona in Negros Occidental.

The establishment of the regular LTO office in EB Magalona , some 26 kilometers north of Bacolod City, aims to bring the services of LTO closer to the people of the 3rd District and ensure the speedy disposition of applications for driver’s license and vehicle registration, and strict enforcement of land transportation laws.

It was authored by Cong. Francisco Benitez at the 18th Congress.

In his explanatory note, Benitez said that the economic growth in his district has been driving an increase in volume of LTO transactions that overwhelm the LTO Bacolod District Office which currently services applicants from the 3rd District.

The huge demand from the 3rd District, however, requires the expansion of LTO operations from an extension office to a regular office, according to Benitez.

At the upper chamber, the bill was sponsored by Sen. Grace Poe.

Poe in a statement hailed the enactment of the new law which according to her will address longer travel and long lines in getting a license.
