The Department of Trade and Industry in Negros Occidental confirmed that leading supermarkets had adjusted sugar pricing to P70/ kilo.

According to DTI, both PureGold and SM Supermarkets reduced their prices last August 26. For PureGold, it sold refined sugar at P70/ kilo, while SM Supermarket sold the wash sugar at P70/kilo.

Pricing for refined sugar in SM supermarkets ranges between P92-P106.

Robinsons Supermarket on the other hand sold washed sugar at P78.25 per kilo.

The reduced pricing was part of the commitment of big supermarkets to Malacañang to cut the retail price of sugar to P70 per kilo.

Meanwhile, the Sia-led MerryMart has implemented a notable price cut for well-milled rice sold through its wholesale department.

In an announcement, MerryMart said that it started selling rice at P20/kilo when sold per sack on the last day of August.

To purchase, the buyer has to log on to https://onelink.to/mmwholesale. Only 1 sack per buyer is allowed.

Initially, the reduce pricing is available in National Capital Region. But MerryMart operates a supermaket in Cadiz City in Negros Occidental.
