The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the widening of the Silay-Lantawan Road in Silay City, Negros Occidental allowing more motorists going to various destinations in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

“The widened road will facilitate increased traffic capacity, provide more convenient travel, reduce travel time, and ensure cost-efficient delivery of products from farms to the market,” said DPWH Regional Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel in a statement.

The project involved widening a 374-meter section of the road from two lanes to four lanes. This critical entry point to several destinations in Negros Occidental will now be able to accommodate more motorists.

The wider road is also expected to boost tourism in the province. “This better road condition will encourage more tourists to visit magnificent destinations, hence, improving the economic condition of the people in the area,” added RD Oropel.

According to District Engineer Dene B. Baldonado, Jr., the project benefits not only motorists and the local community but also tourists traveling along the highway. The additional lanes will improve traffic flow, provide safer lanes for slower vehicles, and reduce the risk of head-on collisions, especially for larger vehicles.
