DOH6 advises the public to stay at home during long weekend

Due to the threat brought by the Delta variant of the coronavirus, the Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH WV CHD) reminds the public against holding large family and social gatherings, going to the mall, and other unnecessary travel this long weekend.

With the established local cases of Delta variant of concern in the region, DOH also advised the public to stay at home if possible. If it is necessary to go out for essential and important reasons, it is best to avoid crowded places and enclosed settings.

Most workers are expected to have a long weekend starting today until Monday in line with the commemoration of the National Heroes Day on August 30.

In a statement, the health bureau reiterated that any form of social events were people gather from other places and different households increase the risk for COVID-19 spread especially to those who remain unvaccinated.

Instead of face-to-face gatherings, the public may opt to use instead, online platforms such as social media applications and e-commerce sites, the DOH suggested.
