Bacolod City, Negros Occidental— The Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General, Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, has ordered a thorough investigation on the killing of a police officer in this city who is assigned under the anti-drug enforcement unit of the Bacolod City Police Office.
In a statement, Eleazar said he has ordered the City Police and the regional office of the PNP to look at all angles and determine the real motive behind the killing of Police Staff Sergeant Joseph Nepomoceno. The victim who was riding on his motorcycle was gunned down by a motorcycle-riding assailant along Rosario Street in this city on Sunday afternoon, August 29.
Eleazar also urged witnesses and persons who may have information to come forward and help authorities bring the perpetrators to justice. PSSG Nepomuceno was onboard his motorcycle when he was gunned by a still unidentified suspect.
The PNP Chief vowed that justice would be served for the police officer as he expressed his sympathy to the bereaved family of Nepomoceno and ensured that all necessary assistance would be provided for them.
The victim was declared dead-on-arrival at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital after sustaining sustained four gunshot wounds from a caliber .45 pistol.
