Bacolod Representative Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez provided over P2.3 million in personal funds to assist 256 families who lost their homes and properties in an early morning fire in Barangay 27 last September 12.
Benitez met with the affected families on Saturday, September 13, to distribute the financial assistance. According to his spokesperson, Councilor Caesar Distrito, the aid was meant to provide immediate relief for essential needs like food and clothing.
A total of 217 families received P10,000 in cash assistance, while 26 families who are renting a space got P5,000 each and 13 families who are sharing spaces got P3,000 each.
In addition to the immediate cash assistance, Benitez pledged to seek further support from the national government and provide additional food aid in the coming days. He emphasized the importance of clarifying land ownership in the fire-stricken area to ensure a smooth and orderly rebuilding process.
