Colegio San Agustin graduate tops MedTech board exam

A medical student graduate from Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod has topped the March 2023 Medical Technologists Licensure Examination, according to a press statement released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on March 14.

Out of 6,165 test-takers, 4,714 passed the exam, with Sidrey Mel Flores receiving the highest score of 92.10%.

Flores, who graduated last year as the first Summa Cum Laude of CSAB’s MedTech program, also served as the editor-in-chief of The Eagles, the school’s official paper.

He was the Class Valedictorian of Liceo De La Salle Batch 2018, with a general weighted average (GWA) of 99.32.

He is a Math National Achievement Test achiever at age 12 and the first and only recipient of the Principal’s Distinction Award of his high school batch at 16.

The Board of Medical Technology administered the licensure exam in several locations, including N.C.R., Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga.

Registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will be conducted online on May 2-5, May 8-12, and May 15-19, 2023, PRC said.

Meanwhile, PRC said that those who failed to pass the board exam for Medical Technology but obtained a general rating of at least 70% can register as Medical Laboratory Technicians.

The date and venue for the oathtaking ceremony of the new successful examinees will be announced later.
