More than 2,000 absentee voters in Negros Occidental are expected to start voting today as the 3-day local absentee voting kicks off.

The Commission on Election in the province said that half of the voters are coming from the police personnel in the province. Under the absentee voting, uniformed personnel, employees of Comelec, Department of Education, and the media who applied to vote ahead of the May 9 elections are allowed to cast their votes.

Voters will only cast their vote for the national position to include the president, vice president, 12 senators, and one party-list group using manual ballots.

The voting period will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
