Cities of Bacolod & Bago to experience 12-hour power interruption this Sunday

Residents of Bacolod City and Bago City in Negros Occidental are advised to prepare for a 12-hour power outage this coming Sunday, June 2, as the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) will conduct maintenance work on the Bacolod-San Enrique 69kV transmission line, affecting areas served by the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO).

The power interruption will occur from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

During the downtime, NGCP will be replacing wooden poles, resetting protective relays at the Bacolod substation, and performing preventive maintenance on the La Carlota Solar Power Plant.

CENECO said it will also utilize this downtime to conduct simultaneous maintenance on their substations and distribution lines, including replacing damaged poles and clearing trees near power lines.

Here are the complete list of the affected areas:

  • Bacolod – San Enrique 69kV Transmission Line (Sum-ag and Hilangban Feeders)
  • Sum-ag Substation:
    • Areas along Sum-ag Highway, including Villa Maria Subdivision, Sum-ag High School, Barangay Pahanocoy, and Deca Homes GK Village.
    • Portions of Barangay Tabunan, Bago City.
  • Hilangban Substation:
    • Portions of Barangay Lag-asan and Balingasag, Bago City College, Bago City Hospital, and Barangay Taloc.
    • The entire area of Bago City, including Barangay Poblacion, Pta. Playa, and the Baywalk area.
