An investor from China has expressed interest for the Metro Bacolod Bus Rapid Transit System (BRT) that was pitched by the Bacolod delegation at the 2023 Belt and Road Summit in Hong Kong.
Dr. Frances Mae Llamas, Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Officer (LEDIPO) of Bacolod City, said that she attended a business dealing session at the summit, and out of the six projects, there are two prospective investors for the project involving the BRT System and Renewable Energy.
Llamas added that the prospective investor for the BRT System project is from China and wants to study the possibility of the project.
In the city’s presentation, the project is estimated to cost 10 billion pesos and is expected to start in 2025. Under the project, four Metro Bacolod Bus Lines are being proposed to cover Bago, Bacolod, Murcia, and Silay.
This is one of the six priority projects that Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez presented, along with several city officials and department heads, at the summit. Other priority projects include Asenso Yuhom Housing, 100% Renewable Baseload Power Supply for the city, Bacolod as a Smart City, Bacolod Coastal Express Way, and Underground Cabling.
