The Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENECO) has partnered with 2 qualified contractors to improve its response to power outages.
In a statement, CENECO said it has engaged the services of Apostol General Services Inc. and Eagle Claw Development Corporation to assist with maintenance and repairs to CENECO’s distribution lines, aiming to reduce outage duration within the franchise area.
This collaboration follows public complaints regarding frequent outages, particularly at night, and repetitive explanations of line trips.
This engagement is made possible in collaboration with Negros Electric and Power Corp, CENECO said.
In a previous statement, secretary general of Power Watch Negros Wennie Sancho said that whenever there is a brownout, especially when it happens regularly, CENECO has to bear the brunt of criticism.
He added that brownouts cause inconvenience and discourage investment, hindering job creation.
