Negros Occ. Gov. Bong Lacson signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the University of St. La Salle – Bacolod president, Bro. Joaquin Martinez to institutionalize the Negros Occ. Energy Development Road Map, which will strategically plan out sustainable power for the province.

The signing was held at the Governor’s Office, Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City, yesterday, January 8, and witnessed by Negros Occ. Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz and USLS Chancellor Minnie Chua.

It is a collaborative partnership between the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental and USLS Bacolod, through the recommendation of the Negros Occ. Power Sector Assessment Study (NOPSAS).
The road map will also include a coordinating and implementing structure to be led by the Provincial Just Energy Transition (JET) Council, which seeks to institutionalize the strategy through a series of multisectoral, consultative, and participatory activities, designed to secure the formal adoption of the Road Map and ensure its sustained implementation.

Also present at the MOA signing were Provincial Consultant on Energy and Environment Concerns, Rafael Coscolluela, USLS Vice Chancellor for Mission and Development, Bro. Mandy Dujunco, Negros Initiative for Climate and Environment (NICE) Lead Convenor and youth leader Joshua Villalobos, REPower Negros Coordinator Junjun Mojica, and NOPSAS members Dr. Stefannie Montaner and Eileen Hofileña, among others.
