Capitol forms infectious disease council

The provincial government of Negros Occidental has formed a Provincial Infectious Disease and Control Council to manage infectious diseases.

The council, chaired by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, was formed to manage inter-agency collaboration and coordination on the prevention and control of infectious diseases especially emerging and re-emerging diseases in the province.

They are also tasked to formulate and tailor provincial policies and protocols on public health surveillance, prevention, and control of infectious diseases.

Among the members of the council are DILG Negros Occ. Provincial Director, Roselyn Quintana, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital Chief, Dr. Mary Ann Maestral, Provincial Disaster Management Program Head, Dr. Zeaphard Caelian, and Dr. Jessica Fama of PHO.

An initial meeting was held yesterday, August 17. with Board Member Araceli Somosa, chairperson of the SP Committee on Health, Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, and the members of PIDACC.
