The provincial government of Negros Occidental is revising its strategy to boost its vaccination drive against COVID-19 by adding rice incentives to senior citizens who were vaccinated against the virus.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said a total of 66 sacks of rice will be released to 661 vaccinated senior citizen, each receiving 5 kilos.

Capitol has been pushing hard to boost its vaccination versus COVID-19 so that more local government units (LGUs) can be deescalated to a more relaxed alert status.

According to the Inter-Agency Task Force’s latest alert classification, only 9 of the province’s 31 towns and cities were classified under Alert Level 1 until the end of the month. This would include cities of Cadiz, Victorias, La Carlota, Sagay, Candoni, and the municipalities of Enrique B. Magalona (Saravia), Pontevedra, Pulupandan, and San Enrique.
