Bacolod-Silay International Airport’s facility maintenance is so bad, it’s insulting, according to Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Captain Manuel Antonio L. Tamayo.

Tamayo who conducted a comprehensive inspection of the airport on September 14 was disappointed with what he found. He expressed particular concern about the airport’s security, management, and maintenance of airport infrastructure.

“That’s not acceptable to me, that’s insulting,” Tamayo said.

Tamayo gave strict orders to airport staff to improve their measures in order to ensure that the airport’s equipment and facilities are safeguarded and maintained.

He also committed to allocating P80 million in funds for Bacolod-Silay Airport development in 2024.

With the inspection, CAAP reiterates its dedication to upholding the highest standards of aviation safety and efficiency nationwide, guaranteeing a safe and enjoyable travel experience at all airports in the Philippines.
