Twenty-five percent of the combined active COVID-19 cases recorded last Saturday and Sunday were inmates from Bureau of Jail Management and Penology isolation facility in Brgy. Handumanan, according to Emergency Operations Center executive director Em Ang.

Of the 185 cases recorded by the Department of Health over the weekend, Ang said that 46 of them were inmates. The inmates were transferred at the BJMP Ligtas Covid Center in Talisay City for healing. These 46 inmates were part of the newly committed inmates from the various Philippine National Police and other law enforcement units in Negros Occidental.

Ten days ago, at least 25 out of the 214 newly committed inmates also tested positive of the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the Bacolod City Police Office confirmed that Police Station 4 chief, PMaj. Jun Ray Batadlan tested positive late last week, and 13 others who are assigned in Station 4.

The massive testing in Station took place after 4 out of 5 personnel that were tested last week turned out positive.
