Following the desecration of sacred images at the San Isidro Labrador Church in Binalbagan town on Wednesday, April 3, Bishop Louie Galbines of the Diocese of Kabankalan called on the faithful for unity, prayer, and acts of penance for complete healing.

The incident, which occurred during morning mass, resulted in partial and total damage to statues of St. Joseph, San Isidro Labrador, the Immaculate Conception, two angels, and the Crucifix. The Tabernacle was also defaced.
In a statement, Galbines said the church will be closed for a period of time to allow repair of the images.

He emphasized that this closure also serves “as a time for all of us to do penitential acts in order to effect complete healing to our very hearts and minds, to our faith itself wounded by this unwarranted act.”

The Bishop urged the community to “refrain from causing more pain to anyone” and to come together in prayer.
