Benitez to change Bacolod; confirms he’s running for Mayor

After emerging from the Commission on Election hearing for a complaint filed against his transfer of residence in Bacolod City, businessman Albee Benitez confirmed today, July 19, that he is officially running for mayor of Bacolod come 2022 election.

Benitez announced his decision on his FB page too.

Benitez along with his political supporters walked from COMELEC Office to Lion’s Park in reclamation area where he announced his decision to officially run for mayor.

“I have seen enough, I have heard enough. The clamor of the people is undeniable and this is why I’m officially announcing that I am running for Mayor of Bacolod in 2022,” the former 3rd district representative said in a Facebook post.

At his press conference, Benitez added that he is not aftering for any power and underscored that it is for the clamor of many. He said during his previous visits at the city’s main market, people have been telling him that the city needs a new leadership.

Benitez filed for a transfer of his voting rights in Bacolod last April.

The former solon said that in the next couple of weeks he will reveal his complete slate. Seen with Benitez at his press conference were incumbent Abanglikod Congressman Stephen Paduano, and former Vice Jude Thaddeus Sayson among other.
