Bagonhon student-athletes are set to represent Negros Occidental in the upcoming Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet this month after winning gold medals in various sports events like softball, taekwondo, and athletics during the recently-concluded Negros Occidental Palarong Panlalawigan 2023.

The group includes Taekwondo Elementary Category gold medalists Nadine Tambanillo and Matthew Levi Cabahug, who both attend Bago City Elementary School.

Representing the province in athletics are gold medalists RJ Medina, John Micco Castañeda, Marienne Villanueva, Reygie Sumacolob Jr., Kharl Allen Ecija, and Prince Heindrex Trayco.

Meanwhile, the team from Ramon Torres National High School who won the gold medal in softball will serve as the official team of the province in the regional meet.

The winning softball team is composed of Claire Olarte, Alrhea Key Palzario, Trixie Ann Ganciar, Rhaine Elijah Timbad, Princess Mazee Torre, Jenny Cabanera, Janin Pajotal, Jacey Nadine Pajotal, Joylyn Caballero, Maria Kimberly Alipato, Julie Ann Buenafe, and Biel Coline Tanaman.

The athletes’ outstanding performances in their respective sports have earned them the privilege of representing Negros Occidental in the upcoming regional meet.

The student-athletes paid a visit to Vice Mayor Ramon Torres on April 3, after their triumphant victory in the recently concluded Palarong Panlalawigan 2023. The student-athletes form part of the Area IV delegation.

Coaches and the DepEd Division of Bago Sports Coordinator, Leo Dayot, also joined them during the visit to the vice mayor.
