The City of Bago officially began COVID-19 vaccinations today using jabs from the national government with frontline health workers and uniformed personnel first to be inoculated.
In the first phase of the vaccine rollout the city was able to secure 230 doses of Sinovac from the Department of Health (DOH) for its batch 1 of vaccinees from Bago City Hospital.
Today it inoculated Oxford AstraZeneca to 50 eligible individuals listed under what the City Health Office (CHO) called as priority eligible A.
Tomorrow 20 more frontliners will also receive shots of AstraZeneca to complete the second batch of the first phase of immunisation programme in Bago which is being held at the City Coliseum.
Bago Mayor Nicholas Yulo was present at the kick off of the Covid-19 vaccination programme in the city this morning.
“Our frontliners are the heroes of Bago during this time of pandemic,” the Mayor said.
“With the initial and limited supply we have, they need to be prioritized because of the high risk of exposure while they are serving and fulfilling their duties to the public,” he added.
According to CHO, the succeeding batches will follow depending on the availability of the vaccines that is to be delivered from the DOH.
