The Department of Health thru its Health Emergency Management Bureau (HEMB) has recognized Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo as a champion of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health (DRRM- H).

The recognition was given by DOH as part of this year’s observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month.

Yulo is one of the 7 mayors in the country and the lone winner in the province as revealed on the DOH page and HEMB webpage.

The award was based on the required landmarks relative to DRRM-H institutionalization set by the national health department.

Other awardees include the local chief executives from the Municipality of Bontoc, Municipality of San Gabriel in La Union, Municipality of Magaldan in Pangasinan, Municipality of Itogon in Benguet, Municipality of Concepcion, Iloilo and the City of Vigan in Ilocos Sur.

For his part, Yulo is elated over this recognition given by the DOH. In a statement, he dedicated his award to the hard working men and women behind Bago’s DRRM- H who tirelessly work even in the midst of Covid-19 crisis.

“Their passion and commitment to serve our constituency is very laudable. We were successful and able to accomplish many things because of them. They are indeed our unsung heroes and heroines and I share this recognition with them,” the mayor said.
