The Bacolod Traffic and Transportation Management Department has issued a memorandum that would apprehend modern jeepneys with doors open while in motion following a fatal fall of a 22-year-old conductor that resulted in his death.
The BTTMD’s memorandum, distributed to all traffic enforcers, emphasizes the need for immediate action to prevent similar accidents.
In his memorandum, BTTMD Officer-in-Charge Patrick Lacson highlighted the observation where modernized jeepneys are seen running with open doors, creating a perilous environment for both conductors and passengers.
“”This practice poses a severe safety risk to both passengers and other road users. I strongly urge all personnel to immediately stop and apprehend any PUVs found to be operating in such a dangerous manner, ” Lacson emphasized on the memo.
We, at BTTMD, are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of the public. Therefore, I encourage all passengers to actively participate in promoting safety, he added.
