With the plan to return the MassKara Festival major activities to the Bacolod City Public Plaza, Mayor Greg Gasataya conducted thorough inspections on Thursday, July 3, to ensure the historic plaza is ready for the festivities.
During his visit, Gasataya issued directives for immediate improvements at the Bacolod City Public Plaza. These included pruning overgrown trees, removing old and damaged Christmas lights, and repairing non-functional lamps.
To further enhance the visitor experience, he ordered the siphoning of septic tanks, the repair of comfort rooms, the repainting of structures, and the removal of unnecessary objects.
Additionally, the city will coordinate with the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) for the rehabilitation of the water fountain, according to a press release from the Bacolod City Communications Group.
Gastaya underscored that by caring for the Bacolod City Public Plaza, “we are preserving a part of who we are as Bacolodnons—a symbol of our pride, our culture, and our unity.”
He emphasized further that it is his priority to bring new life to the spaces that matter most to Bacolodnons.
