Bacolod City’s plan to procure P15 million worth of pertussis vaccines has encountered a setback after the initial bidding process was declared unsuccessful.

According to Atty. Hermilo Pauyon, Chairperson of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), the sole bidder for the project failed to meet the required qualifications, particularly it lacked the documentation regarding their “single largest completed contract.”

While this delay may cause temporary concern, Dr. Adriano Suba-an, Director of the Department of Health Regional Office 6, has reassured the public that free pertussis vaccines are still available within Western Visayas.

However, Dr. Suba-an also expressed his support for Bacolod City’s initiative to procure additional vaccine supplies. He emphasized the importance of bolstering public health defenses, particularly for children, against this potentially life-threatening disease.
