Bacolod City, Negros Occidental— The Bacolod City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is currently monitoring a new case of COVID-19 in this city as they suspect that the patient has been hit by the Delta variant.

According to EOC Deputy for Medical, Dr. Chris Sorongon, the patient who works in a local computer store is part of the family who earlier tested positive of the coronavirus. Per lab results, the patient has a cycle threshold of 15.07 which made the city to suspect that the patient may have been hit by Delta, said Sorongon.

The specimen of the patient was already sent to the Philippine Genome Center per Sorongon for a confirmatory test.

Aside from this patient, the rest of the family members are current on quarantine, including a female member of the family who is a health worker.

As of yesterday, the Department of Health Region 6 reported a total of 925 active cases in Bacolod. Of which, 52 are fresh cases. Meanwhile, the province of Negros Occidental has a total of 66 new cases, with 64 cases identified by the DOH 6 as local cases.
