A mega job fair held in Bacolod City in celebration of Labor Day on May 1 saw a low turnout, with less than 3,000 applicants showing up for the 10,000 available job openings.

According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), only 2,782 applicants expressed interest in the various positions offered, with a little over 1% applicants were hired on the spot.

The return of the mega job fair for Labor Day in the city was participated by 65 local and overseas employers, offering a wide range of opportunities, including skilled jobs, frontliner positions for well-known brands, and openings in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector. Notably, nearly 3,000 BPO jobs were up for grabs from 9 different companies.

According to DOLE, the Bacolod leg has the most significant number of pre-registered job seekers in region 6.

Other than the jobs, government services were also available at the DOLE’s Help Desk.
