Bacolod City mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez tagged himself safe after a very strong earthquake that hit Manila this morning, July 27.
The mayor posted pictures of himself in an open space on social media after evacuating from the Manila hotel where he stayed.
The mayor who was in Manila after attending the state of the nation address of Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., flew back to Bacolod past lunch time, today.
Meanwhile, Cong. Greg Gasataya of the lone district of Bacolod also confirmed that he was safe.
He said he was having a zoom interview over Bombo Radyo Bacolod when he experienced an earthquake in Manila.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said a 7.3 magnitude earthquake hit Abra province and caused landslides and power interruptions across the northern island of Luzon.
