Bacolod council oks S&R Lucio Co as honorary mayor, adopted son

The Bacolod City Council has approved a resolution adopting Lucio Co as honorary mayor and adopted son of the city.

The resolution authored by Councilor Al Victor Espino was approved during the council’s regular session.

The Filipino Chinese community in Bacolod first recommended that Co be declared an adopted son in connection with the celebration of the Bacolaodiat Festival 2024. Co is the chairman and owner of Cosco Capital Inc., Puregold, S&R Membership Shopping,

Councilor Jason Villarosa, chair of the committee on tourism, said that the organizer of the festival told him that Co will arrive in Bacolod on February 10 for his conferment.

Co is a well-respected businessman in the Philippines and is known for his philanthropy. He has donated to various causes, including education, healthcare, and disaster relief.

His adoption as an honorary son of Bacolod is a recognition of his contributions to the city and the Filipino Chinese community.
