Bacolod celebrates World Radio day

Broadcast journalists, disc jockeys, and drama talents from various radio stations in Bacolod City gathered at the lobby of the Bacolod City Government Center, yesterday, February 13, to celebrate World Radio Day.

The event organized by the Bacolod City government in partnership with the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP) recognizes the role of radio as a powerful tool for communication and information dissemination.

Bacolod City, Councilor Jason Villarosa, who is the SP Committee Chairman on Information and Communications Technology, conveyed Mayor Albee Benitez’s message recognizing the role of radio in promoting public cooperation and raising awareness on important causes, especially in areas where internet and social media are not accessible.

Villarosa added that the Bacolod City Government supports the global effort to acknowledge and appreciate radio stations and practitioners in upholding the freedom of speech and expression.

Chona Gosiaco, the KBP-Bacolod & Negros Occidental Chairperson, affirmed that radio serves as a social equalizer that represents all individuals, making its peace-making capability extensive.
