Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez took a significant step towards improving the city’s healthcare services with the groundbreaking of the P219 million new Bacolod City Health Complex in Barangay 20, yesterday, July 24.

The two-building facility with an estimated are of 4,683-square-meter is set to provide expanded healthcare services to Bacolod residents.

Building 1 will occupy 1,600 square meters, while Building 2 will cover a larger area of 3,073 square meters. Benitez aims to complete the first phase of the complex within a year.

Aside from the Bacolod City Health Complex, the mayor announced plans to establish super health centers across the city. These facilities will serve as mini-hospitals with the capacity to admit up to 10 patients, helping to decongest the city’s main hospitals. A super health center nearing completion in Barangay Vista Alegre will serve as a pilot model for the initiative.

Benitez emphasized the importance of this project, highlighting its role in enhancing the city’s healthcare capabilities.

OIC CHO Head Dr. Grace Tan expressed optimism about the improvements the new complex will bring to the community.

The groundbreaking ceremony was graced by the presence of Congressman Greg Gasataya, city councilors, representatives from the Department of Health, and other key stakeholders. Vicar General Monsignor Ronald Quijano led the blessing of the site.
