The Bacolod City government has earmarked P29 million for the procurement of free school supplies for public school students from Kindergarten to Grade 6.
Councilor Al Victor Espino, chair of the committee on education, said that the necessary documents have been submitted to the Bids and Awards Committee to commence the bidding process.
According to Espino, the school supplies to be distributed will include bags and other essential learning materials. The funding for this will be sourced from the city’s Special Education Fund, he added.
Espino assured the city’s commitment to adhering to the provisions of the procurement law in implementing the free school supplies ordinance.
The local government aims to distribute these supplies by June 2025, in time for the new academic year. The LGU projects that approximately 72,000 students will benefit from this program.
