The city government of Bacolod will no longer conduct immediate swab test to identfied close contacts of a COVID-19 positive patient.

The change in the testing process is to ensure that close contacts do not yield a false negative result.

Bacolod Emergency Operation Center executive director Em Ang cited a recent incident where a close contact was swab after the contact tracing and yielded a negative result, but was later hospitalized and died of COVID-19.

According to Ang the virus could have been on its incubation stage at that time.

This latest fatality according to Ang is an employee of Bacolod City government and is the 15th fatality for the month. As of yesterday, the city has 691 active cases, and a total of 37 new cases.
