A pre-launch event to kick off the 2023 Bacolaodiat Festival and the Chinese New Year was officially launched on Sunday, January 15 at SM City Bacolod with representatives of Bacolod City, Bacolaodiat Inc., and SM City Bacolod executives.
The activity kicked off with a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony at the mall’s atrium with SM City Bacolod Assistant Mall Manager Julia Javellana, representatives of the city and Bacolaodiat Inc. This marks the beginning of the Bacolaodiat celebrations in the mall area.
The SM City Bacolod is one of the four festival sites of the Bacolaodiat and will be served as venue for the announcement of the winners of the Lantern Dance Competition on January 22.
On January 22, mall and festival goers will also get a chance to witness the repeat performances of the top three Lantern dance groups.
Other activities lined up at SM City Bacolod include a Chinese Calligraphy session and a siopao eating contest on January 20; digital rabbit hunt, dragon dance, cultural performances and Chinese cosplay on January 21.
