Provincial Consultant for Economic Affairs Albee Benitez flew in 14,400 Sinovac vaccines in the province late afternoon yesterday, April 12, using his private jet to speed up the rollout of COVID-19 vaccination in the province and the city of Bacolod.
The Public Information Office of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines in Bacolod-Silay Airport said Benitez’ Hawker Siddeley 125 arrived at the airport at 4:48PM with 13 boxes of COVID-19 vaccines.
The third batch of Sinovac vaccine was picked by Benitez at the Department of Health Manila, of which 11,400 will be for the province and 3,000 were allotted for Bacolod City.
Benitez said he is expecting more vaccines for Bacolod and the province now that he is bringing them straight to the province.
It can be recalled that Bacolod City was the first highly urbanized city in Western Visayas to received the first batch of Sinovac and the first as well to administer the shots to healthcare workers in the city.
As of the latest vaccine inventory of the DOH in Region 6, a total of 5,295 healthcare workers in the city were already vaccinated.
