Incoming Mayor of Bacolod City has established a “Truth Commission” that aims to audit and review all transactions made by the outgoing administration.
In a gathering attended by the Bacolod media and social media influencers, Benitez emphasized that the public deserves to know what happened in the past without citing what transactions will be the focus of the commission.
He underscored that what were illegally done should be properly addressed. This according to him would also allow the previous administration to feel better to prove that they did nothing wrong.
In an online post, Journalist Modesto Saonoy detailed a series of charges, alleging that the city’s coffers had been drained of huge amounts of money.
The composition of the transparency team is yet to be announced by Benitez.
