Former 3rd district congressman of Negros Occidental Albee Benitez has ventured into digital news by investing in Digicast Negros, a local news organization run by some former employees of ABS-CBN, Bacolod.

Benitez in his official website was quoted in saying: “I welcome DIGICAST Negros and the men and women who have courageously taken up the challenge to carry on the mission of bringing relevant and invaluable news and information to the public despite the constraints and obstacles that the media industry face in this time of the pandemic.”

Aside from former employees of ABS-CBN, the group was recently joined by Marchel Espina, former political beat reporter of Visayan Daily Star. Espina will cover for the english news.

Digicast launched its website and online newscast last Ocotber 19 and has carried over the Ilonggo news reporting, a brand they were known for in the community.

DigicastX, a 5PM newscast on weekdays, carries a rundown of the top 10 news of the day. It broadcasts live on Facebook and YouTube.
