A head plumber of Silay City Engineer’s Office and four others died today, June 27, after a mini dump truck carrying them overturned in Hacienda Paho, Barangay Guimbalaon, Silay City.
As of 3PM, seven are in critical condition, while 13 suffered minor injuries.
Silay City Engineer’s Office head Edna Manayon confirmed the fatalities, identifying one of the deceased as Alexander Balili, the department’s head plumber. The four other fatalities were identied as:
- Rafael Jardiolin Jr., 57, of Barangay 5
- Eldie Naguita, 65, of Barangay E-Lopez
- Richer Dimson, 52, of Barangay Guinhalaran
- Leonillo Jerson, 38, of La Purisima, Barangay E-Lopez
Among those injured and now being treated are: Marlon Amaroyo, Cosme Premaylon, 55, Jayme Bangis, Mario Donieza, 59, Felomino Aquino y Bilbao, 49, Arthur Gonzales y Dela Cruz, 47, Jerkin Acuña, 43, Randy Dela Banda, 50, Mark Rebelala, 32, Aaron Andrade, 59, Edgar Premaylon, 51, Joseph Mondejar, 54, Rizalino Hugos, 62, Arturo Ardiente, 58, Bienvenido Gallego, 61, Louien Acuña, 48, Julius Tomco, 57, and Ronie Molabin, 53. All are residents of Silay City.
Initial investigation by the Silay City Philippine National Police (PNP) reveals that the mini dump truck was descending from Barangay Patag towards Sitio San Juan in Barangay Guimbalaon with 25 Silay Local Government Unit (LGU) employees on board. They were reportedly returning from a tree-planting activity when the driver lost control, causing the truck to overturn.
