4 were killed and burned in wing vans accident

Four persons were burned and killed when 2 wing vans figured in a head-on collision in Valladolid town past midnight, according to Valladolid PNP Chief of Police Capt. Wilfredo Benoman Jr.

Preliminary investigation from the PNP indicates that the wing van coming from south and heading north swerved out of its way and crashed onto the approaching wing van resulting to the fatal accident.

First responders said that four victims, 2 in each wing van, were trapped inside the vehicle when a fire broke out in one of the delivery vans due to the impact of the accident.

Benoman identified 2 out of 4 fatalities as brothers Wendell and Carlo Larios, residents of Mabinay town in Negros Oriental. Wendell was the driver of the wing van from south and his brother Carlos serves as his helper.

Meanwhile, police identified the 2 onboard the wing van with plate number MAH 4613 as Diany Garcia, resident of Hda. Pula Brgy E. Lopez, Silay City and helper Evel Elostrisimo.

Fire fighters from Valladolid had to seek help from neighboring fire stations before they were able to put off the fire that could have caused by the fuel spill.

Benoman said that it took nearly 5 hours for the rescuers to extricate all four fatalies from the damaged vehicles. The bodies were taken to Lagunday Funeral Homes in Bago City.

The crash and fire caused the closure of the main highway which connects motorists to San Enrique in south and Pulupandan in north.
