397 sexagenarians receive longevity award from Bago City

The City of Bago joined the celebration of the Elderly Filipino Week 2022 by giving out Longevity Award in the form of cash incentives to 397 qualified elderly of the city.

Of the 397 awardees,310 ages 80- 88 years old received P5,000; 85 with age ranging 90 to 99 years old got P10,000 each; and 2 centenarians were given P25,000.

Physically-able and vaccinated awardees were present to personally receive their award from the city government at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center.

Mayor Nicholas Yulo approved the appropriation of P2.410 million for the cash award and was represented by Councilor Ma. Femmy A. Martir, chairperson on Social Services during the program and the distribution of the awards.

The activity which recognizes and give honor to Bagonhon elderlies was organized by the City Social Welfare and Development Office led by Leah Pilipina Canayon.

The Elderly Filipino Week is celebrated annually from October 1-7. This year’s theme is, “Older Persons: Resilience in Nation Building.”
