Two hundred sixty couples from Bago City exchange their “I Do’s” in a mass wedding held at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center on December 19.

The couple only spent P550 on their wedding. According to Local Civil Registrar Meriam Huerva, the couple only paid for the documentary requirements, with the city government covering the rest of the costs, including food at the reception.
It is the first mass wedding officiated by Mayor Nicholas Yulo and attended by city officials, families, and relatives of the couples since the pandemic.
Huerva said that the purpose of the mass wedding is to legalize the union of couples who have lived together for years but could not afford to get married.
In his message, Yulo reminded the newlyweds to remain faithful to one another and be a role model to their children.
The Office of the Local Civil Registrar recorded 3 oldest couples- 2 from Barangay Calumangan and 1 from Barangay Dulao.
Present at the event were Vice Mayor Ramon Torres, Councilors Marina Javellana-Yao, Ma. Josefa Matti, Jake Patrick Torres, Victor Michael Javellana, Carlos Mondia, Ma. Femmy Martir, and Joseph Colmemares.
