A 22-year-old male, Reynan Bantilan, succumbed to injuries sustained after falling from a modernized jeepney in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, March 4, and the victim passed away on Thursday, March 6, at a local hospital.

According to preliminary reports and CCTV footage, Bantilan, employed as a conductor, was collecting passenger fares when he fell from the vehicle. The incident transpired as the driver allegedly opened the vehicle’s door to allow a passenger to disembark.
Bantilan reportedly lost his balance, resulting in a fall onto the roadway.
Medical examination revealed that he suffered a skull fracture and internal hemorrhage. He was admitted to the hospital in a comatose state and subsequently died from complications related to his injuries.
The driver of the jeepney, identified as a 40-year-old male, was taken into police custody for questioning. He was released following the expiration of the 12-hour reglementary period.
Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. This investigation will include a review of the vehicle’s maintenance records and adherence to safety protocols.
