The city halls of Himamaylan and Kabankalan in southern Negros were closed for decontamination and sanitation.
In Kabankalan, Mayor Pedro Zayco ordered the work suspension last Friday, November 20, after a number of employees assigned at the City Assesors and Engineering offices tested positive of the virus.
An employee of the City Engineer’s Office previously died of COVID-19 prompting the city to conduct a thorough contact tracing and testing.
According to Zayco additional employees will be subjected to swab test and results are expected to be out this week.
The mayor himself underwent the swab test and yielded a negative result.
Meanwhile, Mayor Raymund Tongson has ordered the closure of the city hall after 2 employees who worked at the Mayor’s Office and the City Treasurer’s were swabbed.
In his advisory posted on Facebook the mayor said pending the result of the test, all employees are advised to go on self-quarantine, particularly those who transact at CTO last, and those who came in contact with the personnel of the City Mayor’s Office.
Both government center will remain closed until further notice.
