Nineteen provincial government employees of Negros Occidental have tested positive for illegal drugs during surprise drug tests conducted on December 17 and 18, 2024.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II revealed that among the 19 who failed the drug test, three were regular employees, seven were job order employees, three were contractual employees, and six were blue guards.

Diaz said that the job order, casual, and contractual employees who tested positive will not have their contracts renewed.

The blue guards, on the other hand, will not be allowed to report for duty, and their employment will be at the discretion of their respective security agencies.

Regular employees who tested positive will undergo a confirmatory test. If they wish to be reinstated, they are required to undergo a rehabilitation program.
